Innovation: stretching the mind, fostering open innovation in public management
Stretching the mind, fostering open innovation in public management

30/11/2010 by Pedro das Neves @ INA

"Thinking out of the box" also means thinking out of your network!
The new economy is driven by innovation and structured by networks. Public administration institutions are under pressure to accommodate this innovation-centred ideal as private organizations are stretching their boundaries, enlarging their networks and accepting external inputs to their innovation process - even if keeping secret their core businesses. This process is also called open innovation.

In this presentation, Pedro das Neves, consultant and trainer in Innovative Public Administration projects and CEO of iZone Knowledge Systems will discuss Innovation in Public Administration as an Open Innovation Process in which public management should foster “openness to the market”.
The innovation process is fed by a close conversation with the market, being citizens and civil organizations a very important part of the public market.
